In other news Rapper Ice Cube is taking things a bit further with his acting career. Sources close to Cube state that he is about to open up his own Film studio.It’s still hard to believe the phenomenal film, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ was ignored at this year’s Academy Awards. Ice Cube has expressed that he isn’t surprised nor does he ever plan to kiss a** or “play the game”. Ice Cube does plan to take action though as he wants to open up his own move studio in Hollywood. Rumors are circulating fast about Samsung, Spotify & Google are looking to buy Jay z’s Tidal. Rumor has it that companies such as Samsung, Google, and Spotify are looking to buy out Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal. The NY Post, reports that Samsung has been in talks to acquire the streaming service for a while. Samsung and Jay reportedly have a longstanding business relationship, and the company has been heavily involved in some of Jay Z and other Tidal owners’ musical releases. Sources say Spotify and Google are interested in minority ownership opportunities in the company. Tidal has exclusively released Kanye West’s ‘The Life Of Pablo’ and Rihanna’s highly anticipated ‘Anti’ albums, and the company has been said to have reached millions of subscribers. Hold Up…..What the ….Dave Chappelle To Headline His 1st Ever Show At Radio City Music Hall In June

 This is Something Im Sure Everyone Has Been Waiting for. According to AllHipHop News Mr Chapelle Is Jumping Back Into Lime Light.

(AllHipHop News) Dave Chapelle is coming back to New York City. Last night (March 27th), LiveNation sent out a press release stating that Dave Chapelle will perform at Radio City Music Hall in June.

The show will be Chapelle’s first ever headlining show at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public next Friday (April 4th) at 10 A.M. on ticketmaster.com. Prices for the tickets will range between $59-79.

American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m.through Thursday, April 3 at 10 p.m.

This may be Chapelle’s first headlining show at Radio City Music Hall but he has performed at the famed establishment. Back in May of 2006, he appeared as one of The Root’s surprise guests during Verizon Presents The Roots With Special Guests. The appearance occurred a month after telling Oprah on The Oprah Winfrey Show that he left The Chapelle Show due to fatigue, lack of creative control and illness as a reason for his decision. To the packed crowd at Radio City Music Hall back in May 2006, he told a different story:

I figured it out. This whole sh*t is run off a game. Nobody knows what the game is. I figured it out. I know the whole sh*t. You have to look for the clues when you dealing with Hollywood. You have to ask yourself the right question, because Hollywood thinks they’re slick. I’m serious, man. Ask yourself this: How many people live in India? 1.2 billion. The film Chapelle may have been referencing was the 1982 film Ghandi which had British actor Ben Kingsley play the role of Mahatma Ghandi.

Last week I said that I’d give alternate suggestions to buying features and explain the “philosophy” behind major labels providing signed artists with features.

Let me start by saying that any major label – any mid-major with major label distribution – will spend upwards of a million dollars on the promotion and marketing of an artist’s single. Additional money will be spent on the promo/mktg of the artist’s album. A major label will often “hedge” it’s bet and stack the deck by adding a hot artist to a new artist’s song to bolster the already hefty budget behind the song.

The logic of adding a feature is lost on most indie labels and aspiring artists. They fall victim to the belief that “star power” makes these songs with features into hits – so they want to buy a feature – a verse – a hook from…
